EVENTS 2022-23

Description:

King’s Think Tank-KCL Debating Society organise a debate on China-US economic relations. Watch the best debaters to grasp complex issues!

The motion of the debate: ‘This house believes that the US aggressively decoupling from China brings more harm than good’.

The world’s two largest economies have engaged in great competition for years. Will China emerging as an economic competitor and strategic rival, lead into unacceptable national security concerns in Washington or the benefits of that economic engagement will dominate in the end? Policymakers, politians and economists now hevaily debate whether, and how, the United States ought to “decouple,” broadly defined as restrictions that contain international business with China. Now it is time to watch King’s best debaters who will present you with the strongest arguments on both sides and help make sense of this top national security and international economy issue.

Looking for a chance to exercise your creativity and get published? The Defence & Diplomacy Policy Centre at King’s Think Tank will be organising a Crisis Simulation Workshop on the Japanese response to Chinese manoeuvres in the Taiwan Strait. This event will provide an outlet for participants to work in teams and conduct risk analyses from the perspectives of specific Japanese governmental bodies: the Ministry of Defence, Intelligence and Analysis Service, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They will then generate appropriate policy options, and provide recommendations to the Japanese Prime Minister. This will culminate in a published paper.

To make the event even more attractive, pizza will be served as well to the participants!!!
